Terra Nova - Graduate Collection

Terra Nova brings direct inspiration from the harrowing story of the ill-fated British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913. The raw and undeniable human instinct to survive is what encapsulated me to this story.
The collection captures the raw emotions of these men.
Extremes of scale, imitating their vulnerability against the vast environment.
Elongated sleeves symbolising endurance.
Jacquard knits of their last love letters, the power and strength of love.
Hyper-realism using portrait silk prints to show the effects human nature.
Fabric innovation was a large part of this collection. Experimentation with the use of knitted fabrics in new ways, either through knit structure, stitches or technique. The strongest technician being needle punching custom silk prints of their garments into new shapes made from knitted fabric. I enjoyed working on this idea of hyper realism and the tricks this technician played on the eye.
